Salt Springs State Park: The Friends of Salt Springs State Park, Inc., host varied events and offer its educational and environmental programs to the community and public. Trails through the park offer a vista of spectacular topography of the surrounding region. Licensed hunting and fishing are permitted in season. A day-use picnic area is available. The park is also ideal for winter activities, including cross-country skiing, sledding and tobogganing. The park is located 6 miles north of Montrose, on Silver Creek Road (one mile west of Rt. 29) in the village of Franklin Forks. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk. Florence Shelly Preserve part of the Nature Conservancy, is a 357-acre Preserve and home to many thriving species of plant, animal and bird life. Self-guided trails are available or guided walks with stewardship committee members are provided through undeveloped trails.
